Eight years reading signals in the field.
Now writing the code behind them.

I'm Rawasen Munisi — RF engineer, network optimizer, and drive-test specialist across GSM, WCDMA, LTE and 5G NR. Alongside that, I'm building software development skills, one commit at a time.

About

From cell towers to command lines

I'm a telecommunications engineer with over eight years of experience in RF engineering, drive testing, and network optimization, working across multiple countries. My work has taken me deep into the technical layers that keep phones connected — from 2G voice networks to 5G NR rollouts.

I hold a telecommunications engineering degree from the University of Dodoma. Vendor-side, I've worked hands-on with Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, and Alcatel-Lucent equipment.

Right now, I'm doing something I'm genuinely excited about: learning to code from the ground up in Python, with the goal of moving into software development. This page is both a record of where I've been, and a build log of where I'm headed.

Coverage

Networks I've worked across

Each generation brought its own architecture, its own quirks in the field — and its own vendor stack.

2G
GSM
Voice-era foundation networks. Site commissioning, SSV checklists, integration acceptance.
3G
WCDMA
Data-capable overlay networks. Drive testing and KPI-driven optimization.
4G
LTE
Throughput-focused rollouts across Nokia and Huawei RAN equipment.
5G
NR
Next-gen deployments — Ericsson and Huawei stacks, greenfield site work.
Roaming history

Networks I've been on

Like a phone switching roaming partners, my work has moved across operators, vendors, and borders.

Carrier Aggregation: RF Engineering + Software Development

In telecom, carrier aggregation combines multiple bands at once for more capacity — no dropped connection, just more throughput. That's this chapter.

CARRIER 1
RF engineering, ongoing
CARRIER 2
Python fundamentals
CARRIER 2
First script shipped
CARRIER 2
Version control & Git
Currently on main — learning through freeCodeCamp and CS50P, writing small scripts alongside full-time RF work. Both carriers stay active.
